According to Certification Magazine, the CCIE is not only the toughest technology examination in the field, but it is near the top of lists of the most desired or most valuable IT certifications.

CCIE certification is good for your resume and your pocketbook. Network World magazine reports that CCIEs typically command a 10% to 35% increase in salary based on added value to the organization. And in a 2006 Cisco survey of employers' attitudes toward the CCIE, just over half of them pay at least some of the exam costs, and 75% offer some sort of incentive for achieving certification.
